San Diego Photographer | Baby Jordan

After the long awaited arrival of this little fella, I was finally able to meet him and 10lbs of his cuteness!  For being only 9 days old, he sure was giving me the ‘I’m not sleeping’ attitude.  Nonetheless, how can I NOT take a cute pic of him.  It was fun playing with you Jordan, and I cant wait to see you again! :)

San Diego Photographer | NILMDTS Annual Fund Drive

As many of you know, I am part of a non-profit organization called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.  It is their Annual Fund Drive until the end of October and I wanted to share with you how every dollar helps.

2008 annual fund drive header

With the Month of October being recognized as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, The Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation holds its Annual Fund Drive for six weeks starting in mid-September and ending in October.
President Ronald Reagan enacted Proclamation 5890 in October of 1988 to recognize that each year, approximately a million pregnancies in the United States alone end in miscarriage, stillbirth, or the death of a newborn child.  Reagan stated, “A national observance offers us the opportunity to increase our understanding of the great tragedy involved in the deaths of unborn or newborn babies.  It also enables us to consider how, as individuals and communities, we can meet the needs of bereaved parents and family members… “  To read the full Proclamation signed by Reagan, CLICK HERE.

If you are in a place to make even a small contribution to NILMDTS, please know that doing so will continue to allow the organization to provide improved resources, training, communication, and other tools necessary in support of our amazing contingent of professional photographers who provide the gift of free remembrance portraiture to families in need.
Our next project we are working on is an online, interactive webinar version of our Formal NILMDTS Training taught by Co-Founder Sandy Puc’ allowing anyone in any country with access to a computer to complete the course online.  Donations help make programs like this a reality!

San Diego Photographer | OOPS…

oops OOPS...

So I’ve been MIA a bit, sorry. What’s worse is that I decided to delete all my SPAMed comments and well…..actually deleted them all.

SORRY to everyone who had left me a comment and I deleted it. :(

Please don’t take it personal. It was my negligence. EEK!

San Diego Photographer | Relaxation…

It was a great weekend. We were able to just sit back and relax with our friends and family. Sunday evening Paul decides to want to go fishing. So we all went to Imperial Beach and fished! Man, the last time I fished was over 10 years ago, I’m sure! At the end of the day, we caught…..well…two fish. lol. It’s not the number of fish we catch, it’s the moment we had, together…at the pier.

Know what you want to do, hold the thought firmly, and do every day what should be done, and every sunset will see you that much nearer the goal.

San Diego Photographer | Need Washing?

I received this forwarded email from a friend, and it made me smile. The first thing that came to my mind was the time my best friend and I danced in the rain together out during my trip to South Carolina. It was the most rejuvenating feeling I’ve had in a very long time. I’m not one to usually forward emails, but this was a must.

A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Target. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Target. We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day. The little voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in ‘Mom let’s run through the rain,’ she said.

‘What?’ Mom asked.

‘Lets run through the rain!’ She repeated

‘No, honey. We’ll wait until it slows down a bit,’ Mom replied.

This young child waited about another minute and repeated:

‘Mom, let’s run through the rain,’

‘We’ll get soaked if we do,’ Mom said.

‘No, we won’t, Mom.. That’s not what you said this morning,’ the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom’s arm.

This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?

‘Don’t you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, ‘If God can get us through this, he can get us through anything!’

The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn’t hear anything but the rain. We all stood silently. No one came or left in the next few minutes. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say. Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child’s life. A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.

‘Honey, you are absolutely right. Let’s run through the rain. If GOD let’s us get wet, well maybe we just needed washing,’ Mom said.

Then off they ran. We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. They got soaked. But they were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars.

And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.

Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories…So, don’t forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories everyday. To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.

I HOPE YOU STILL TAKE THE TIME TO RUN THROUGH THE RAIN.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.

In response, I get this email with an attachment. It was a photo of us…. in the rain. I couldn’t help shed a tear because of how much I miss her. I hope one day she sees the light, and moves back here. hehe. This post is dedicated to you Tamara. Love ya girly!

San Diego Photographer | Ahhh…Spaaaa…

So I’ve been given the opportunity to photograph the spa in which I work at…I actually work at a resort, so the spa is a part of the resort..lol. It’s a challenging thing, but I enjoyed it. It’s nice to work outside of my comfort zone and be able to work with people that actually listen to me (not like toddlers). ;)
